|The son of Malcolm
Dent Nares, he went straight into the army after leaving Kelly College in Tavistock.
He did his National Service with the RASC and his plan, when he wrote to my
grandfather in 1952, was to stay in the army,
having got his commission, as a regular officer.
We have recently re-established contact with him and learned that he took early retirement from the army to help run the antique business that his wife, Eileen, had set up. Their son Jerrard now works with them and they also have a daughter, Caroline.
Jerrard and his wife Sally, had a son, Louis, born in May 2002.
